Heartbreak for Heworth – But Pride in Performance!
Well done to all involved.
Over the last couple of weeks, Heworth teams have endured two heartbreaking cup defeats away at Cardinal Hume.
Our Year 9 side were involved in a thrilling Gateshead League Cup semi-final, drawing 5–5 in an incredible game before narrowly losing on penalties.
The Year 7 team also showed tremendous character, battling back from 3–1 down to level the match at 3–3, only to suffer a 7–6 penalty shoot-out defeat.
In both fixtures, Heworth went in as massive underdogs but produced outstanding performances full of determination, resilience, and teamwork.
Mr Morris and Mr Vause were extremely proud of the effort, character, and spirit shown by both teams. The results may not have gone our way, but the players represented the school brilliantly.
