Weekly Newsletter 08/12/2022

We hope everyone is well and starting to get into the Christmas spirit!

Our young people are definitely getting excited, the Christmas tree is now up in the dining hall and the activities for the last week are in the final stages of planning.

Attendance

We are really pleased to say that after a difficult week with illness that our attendance is starting to pick up again.  We still need to work really hard as our younger students will be starting assessments next week along with students at all the other Consilium schools and our Year 11 will be receiving their mock results shortly.

It is really important that unless your child is not able to attend for a medical reason that they are in school to complete the assessments.  Any students absent for the assessments will have to catch them up, but obviously it is better to complete them at the same time as everyone else.

Christmas Jumper Day

It was so lovely to see everyone dressed in their Christmas jumpers today, raising money for Save the Children.  Thank you to all parents and carers who supported this charity fundraiser.

The Faraday Challenge

One of the Heworth Teams won our day, and we have a small trophy to display and the pupils in that group all got a £10 voucher, and certificates for assembly – not to mention they all had a fab day!

The Arts Department

It has been a busy week in the Arts department with the second round of auditions and callbacks ready for the final casting of our next musical ‘Grease’.

The students have also had their final rehearsal for the Christmas Show next week which is almost a complete sell out.  I hope you enjoy the show if you are lucky enough to have bagged a ticket!  There are still a small few left for the 15th so get in there quick!

Other good news this week is that we have been accepted for the national Modulo Orchestra again this year.  This means that our music students work with musicians across the country to perform pieces and practice their musical instruments. How exciting!

Mandarin and Chinese Club

Mandarin and Chinese club members had a fab co-curriculum session this week making Chinese dumplings with Mrs Deverson and Ms Thornton. They all looked fabulous!
