Letter to Parents and Carers – 23/04/2021

Dear parents and carers

I hope you enjoyed the Easter holidays and that you manged to take advantage of the good weather to enjoy the start of the restrictions beginning to ease.  We have welcomes back students this week and as always it has been inspiring to see how all our young people have come back to school focused and ready to learn.  The year 11 and 13 students are working hard on producing evidence for teacher assessed grades and it has been delightful to see outdoor clubs starting up again and arrangements for indoor extra-curricular clubs also starting up once more. Mr Searles will be sharing the full co-curriculum timetable shortly so that parents and carers can see what opportunities are on offer to students.

I wrote to you before the holiday about the introduction of the new school logo which is part of a bigger Consilium Trust re-branding exercise. The initial sharing and work had originally been completed with smaller focus and stakeholder groups but I have been able to share the new logo with staff and students this week.  Miss Hollamby has prepared a short video clip to reveal the new logo and the thought process that is behind it with parents and cares which can be found here https://heworthgrange.org/news/rebrand/.

I hope you think the new logo will be an improvement and links more to the heritage of Heworth and ethos of our school.  As I mentioned previously, you will begin to see the new logo appearing on letterheads and communications in the next few weeks as well as on the new website which will be launching shortly.  However, we are not going to be updating school uniform with the new logo until 2022 when the new Year 7 join the school in September 2022.  This is because we understand that this has been an extremely difficult year for everyone and families do not need additional financial pressures caused by changes to uniform.

Thank you to everyone who took part in the social media survey and in response to the feedback we will be featuring more student work in future posts, please let us know what you think and continue to share the good news stories about our wonderful young people.

As always thank you for your support and let us know if we can support in any way in this final term of the year.

Yours sincerely

Headteacher

Ms Allie Denholm
